Third Grade
Keyboarding
Your child should be starting to become more familiar with the placement of the letters and numbers on the keyboard. Because the letters are not presented in alphabetical order, this can be very frustrating for your child and much practice is required for keyboarding mastery - something that will be developed over the course of several years and in third grade having the student use both hands on the keyboard and begin using correct hand/finger placement on the keyboard is emphasized. At this point, accuracy in letter selection using the correct fingers is the goal. Third graders find that it is "awkward" using correct finger placements and will avoid it as much as possible. Accessing the links below will take your child to various websites that will help your child to become more familiar with the keyboard. The only way for third graders to become comfortable with the finger placements is providing lots of practice opportunities.
