Your child should be starting to become familiar with the placement of the letters and numbers on the keyboard. Because the letters are not presented in alphabetical order, this can be very frustrating for your child and much practice is required for keyboarding mastery - something that will be developed over the course of several years and in first grade having the student use both hands on the keyboard is the goal. Accessing the links to the right will take your child to various websites that will help your child to become more familiar with the keyboard. Encourage your child to use BOTH hands.
