WELCOME!!!
Goal:
Elementary school students in the Clarion Area School District will develop basic computer technology skills, knowledge, and competencies that will enhance opportunities for learning in all areas.
Rationale:
Computers are being used as tools to enhance the learning process. Computer use is being integrated into all areas of the curriculum and classroom. Students need to develop basic competencies with computers to be successful in the regular classroom.
Resources and Constraints:
Until COVID-19, Clarion Area Elementary School had a computer lab of 24 Apple computers. Since COVID-19 and the need for more distancing, four computers were removed from the lab to allow for social distancing. Every student in grades 1 - 6 is provided 40 minutes of computer technology instruction in the computer lab during a normal 5-day week. Computer technology is taught by a Business/Computer/Information Technology – certified teacher who also possesses certifications in the areas of Special Education, PK-4, Reading Specialist, Math, and English/Language Arts. Her degrees include a B.S. in Business Administration with majors in Finance and Accounting and a minor in Economics, a M. Ed. with concentrations in Special Education, Elementary, and Reading, and an Ed. D. in Special Education with a minor in Educational Psychology.
